We hope that you all had a wonderful vacation! The students are doing great and seem excited to be back.
Homework Update:
We hope that the new homework procedure is going well. Please remember to read with your child every night. The book that your child reads on Monday can be read throughout the week for fluency. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Weather Reminder:
Winter has arrived! Please make sure that your child has all of the necessary outdoor gear to stay safe and warm during recess. Students are only allowed to play on the snow if they have boots and snow pants.
Reading Strategies:
The students have learned a variety of strategies to use when reading. When you are reading with your child and he/she gets to a tricky word, remind him/her to try these strategies. If the strategies don't work, you can tell them the word. There are many tricky words in our language that we need help to read.
-Sound it out.
-Look at the pictures.
-Pull the word apart.
-Skip the word, go to the period, and then go back to reread.
-Think: What would make sense?
Have a great week!
